Our Yonkers Apartment and Neighborhood

We went to our new apartment for the first time with some apprehension, not knowing its size or condition. We were pleasantly surprised.

The apartment building itself is old but well kept (and very secure!):

We are in a nice neighborhood, with homes across the street in one direction . . .

. . . and more apartment buildings in the other direction:

Our apartment has a large living room . . .

 . . . a nice dining room and dining set . . .

. . . and a well-equipped kitchen with new cupboards, a microwave, a dishwasher, waffle irons, and other appliances, pots and pans, dishes, etc.:

The bathroom is small:

Across the street from our apartment is this McDonald's, which keeps very busy:

And a few steps away from the McDonald's is the barbershop, where hair cuts are only $10:

Our favorite store in the neighborhood is this little market:
It's inexpensive and has great fruits, vegetables, and other produce, including steel-cut oats and other whole-grain cereals.

A short 1- to 2-mile drive away is a huge mall, which includes this full-service supermarket with ample parking (a rarity here in New York):
And we are about a 20-minute drive from a Walmart and about a 10-minute drive from a Costco.

And we are within a 10-minute walk of the Mount Vernon West train station that takes us into Manhattan (about a 45-minute ride):

We love our Yonkers apartment and neighborhood!
